Reliant Comfort Systems provides air conditioning installations to keep Calgary cool during hot summer days and nights.
We’ve built a reputation on superior service with HVAC expertise for properly installing the correct size and capacity of air conditioner needed for your home or building. The correct size of AC will ensure the unit delivers the required cooling needed and help to reduce service and repair costs in the future.
We recommend efficient air conditioners which are quieter and use less energy than units that are 10 years or older. The money saved on reduced energy may significantly offset the replacement cost when replacing older models with a new installation.
When purchasing a new air conditioner there is more to consider than just the lowest price. When shopping around make sure you research the following:
We have over 35 years of experience and use only qualified HVAC technicians for air conditioning installations. We offer free estimates and visit the location to calculate the size of the building to choose the best AC unit for the cooling requirements.
Installing an under-sized AC unit won't provide the desired cooling and will overwork the compressor leading to system failure. An over-sized unit turns on and off too frequently taxing the compressor and fan switches plus it creates more humidity than desired.
We have established relationships with most major air conditioning manufacturers. This allows you to choose the best model based on needs and budget. Reliant Comfort Systems stands behind the warranty of the manufacturer and provides any necessary repairs free of charge under the warranty policy if anything ever goes wrong down the road.
An improperly installed unit may not be covered under warranty and as such it may be difficult to find another company to agree to repair the AC unit you purchased from somewhere else. This is a common issue which can lead to spending more money than you budgeted for initially. Be cautious and hire a reputable company for air conditioning installations.

Recommended AC Manufacturer
We can install most brands of air conditioners, but we recommend Goodman for price, value and warranty.
Thanks to technological improvements today’s air conditioners are 20%-40% more efficient than units manufactured 10 years ago. AC units with lower SEER ratings not only use less energy but they also feature quieter operation.
SEER Rating Metric for Efficient Air Conditioners
The SEER or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio is the standardized measurement used to calculate the energy required for the cooling system output. The higher the number, the less energy required for cooling needed.
Example: a SEER rating of 14 is equal to 28% more efficiency than a unit rated at 10 SEER.
Some AC’s have a SEER Rating of 20 (ultra-high efficient air conditioners), typically many AC's in Calgary are rated at 13 or 14 SEER. Because we live in a cooler climate area the cost for a higher SEER air conditioner is unnecessary. The savings in lower power consumption can’t compensate for the additional cost of ultra-high efficiency units which are better suited in climates where the AC runs throughout all seasons.
Hiring a professional, experienced HVAC technician is perhaps the most important choice you’ll make when deciding to install an air conditioner in your home. Consider most major air conditioner manufacturers feature reliable units with similar (if not identical) compressors; the main operating component. Despite reliable equipment, a quick Google search reveals many consumers have issues after installation. It’s no secret the number one cause for AC system failure is improper installation.
An HVAC system that operates as designed can help you keep utility costs in check. Conversely an improperly installed heating or cooling system can increase your costs every month in addition to shortening the life cycle of the air conditioner.
Choosing a qualified technician is an important consideration for AC installations
In addition to choosing an efficient air conditioner, installed properly, there are other components essential for a well designed cooling system.
Ductwork should be in good condition without leaks (wasted energy), clean (improved air quality) and properly insulated. Read more about the importance of ductwork for Air Conditioning
Placement of the AC unit is critical. Maximum efficiency is achieved when installed in an area where airflow is unimpeded. Shady areas for AC units can prevent units from overheating resulting in costly repairs.
Zone control valves can compensate for uneven temperature distribution in homes with high ceilings, basements or rooms with large windows. Controlling the temperature in each room will allow you to be comfortable no matter where you are in the home.
Most often homes require some custom-design work to ensure all the factors mentioned (above) are properly addressed to ensure your AC runs to maximum efficiency and reaches its expected life-cycle.
